Because its the holiday season, and we have all made it to the end of another year and many are feeling tired and perhaps even burntout, check out this video by Elizabeth Gilbert about nurturing your creativity . A part of my research about practices of collaborative ethnography through creative art involves talking to the facilitators of projects – this year I’ve had the priviledge to interview more than 15 people who facilitate art based documentary work in communities all over the world. In these conversations we frequently end up talking about the trials and tribulations of collaborative art and ethnography; how crazy making it can be to embark on projects that weave together so many strands of creative practice, research, community organising and collaborating with all sorts of people; how easy it is to fall in to burn out; and the common feeling of uncertainty about balancing ones own creative urges with the collaborative creativity we facilitate… I post this video in the hope that everyone keeps doing their creative work, whatever it may be, and give thanks to everyone who’s taken time to reflect and share their experiences with me.
